  • What are Amps?

    An amp, short for ampere, is a unit of electrical current which SI defines in terms of other base units by measuring the electromagnetic force between electrical conductors carrying electric current.defined as one coulomb of charge per second.
  • What are Volts?

    Voltage, also called electromotive force, is a quantitative expression of the potential difference in charge between two points in an electrical field.
  • What is a DC Load?

    DC loads are instruments which receive and consumea direct current (DC) from a source. Commonly used for test and measurement purposes, DC electrical loads can be programmed to determine the current, voltage and frequency present in circuits and electrical systems.
  • What is an AC Source?

    An AC voltage source is simply a source whose positive and negative terminals change polarity periodically.
  • What is a DC power supply?

    A DC (direct current) power supply converts AC electrical energy in (the form delivered by the power company) to a form required by some device. 
  • What does ATE stand for?

    Automated Test Equipment.
  • What does it mean when a load recycles?

    A load recycles energy by synchronizing with the local mains and feeding charge at a nominal voltage to avoid backfeeding the utility grid. The result is a reduction of overall energy use.
  • What is bi-directional?

    A Device is said to be bi-directional if it is capable of both providing and receiving power.
  • What is auto-ranging?

    Provides higher output current at reduced voltages so the source maintains maximum output power across a wide range of voltage operation.
  • What is 2-quadrant?

    Supports both positive and negative current at a positive voltage.
  • What is 4-quadrant?

    Supports both positive and negative current for positive and negative voltages.
  • What is the difference between analog and programmable?

    Analog implies that the output varies according to the input in some linear fashion. Programmability allows for full control including sequencing of complex waveforms and built in test suites/features.
  • Why would I need an ATE Test system?

    Testing, production, calibrations can all be accommodated by a single piece of hardware. Software lockouts can be implemented to keep production from making changes or running unnecessary test required for test. Our ATEs are also hardware independent, making them a solid investment for any sized company. Typical system lifespan is over 10 years
  • Should I care about efficiency?

    The more power you consume, the more efficiency will have an impact on your bottom line. Can you live with throwing away 16% of the energy if you are only testing 15kW? How about testing 30 x 15kW 24-hours a day for burn-in?
  • What does DC stand for?

    Direct Current.
  • What does AC stand for?

    Alternating Current.
  • What are Watts?

    A watt is a measure of DC or “real” power. It is calculated by multiplying current draw by voltage drop.
  • What is Slew Rate?

    In electronics, slew rate is defined as the change of voltage or current, or any other electrical quantity, per unit of time.
  • What does CC stand for?

    Constant Current. A constant current (steady current, time-independent current, stationary current) is a type of Direct Current (DC) that does not change its intensity with time.
  • What does CR stand for?

    Constant Resistance. A constant resistance is a type of Direct Current (DC) that does not change its intensity with time.
  • What does CV stand for?

    Constant Voltage. A constant voltage is a type of Direct Current (DC) that does not change its intensity with time.
  • What does CP stand for?

    Constant Power. A constant power is a type of Direct Current (DC) that does not change its intensity with time.
